The software for PLC is surely the most important component in the software automation supply. It's the central element on the automation system and it determines the performances, the reliability, the flexibility and the easy to use.

For such motive this software is also the part of the project that needs more attention. It needs an absolute knowledge of the development tools and the hardware components employed, with the competence related to the specific production process that the plant has to perform.

So that, each typology of plant requires specific knowledge for the right management of the its own problems, that are often typical just for that typology and extraneous to applications of different nature. This reason has induced us to specialize our technicians about the automations on specific productive sectors, thanks to the knowledge and skilled experiences achieved on each of them.

With "Software for PLC" we talk about various typologies of control and regulation:

  • Routines for cycle control and the automatic movement sequences
  • Diagnostic management of items and devices
  • Motion systems for electric and hydraulic axis
    • Position and speed control

The HMI (Human Machine Interface) solutions include the hardware and software components, with the primary function of to realize an interface between the operator and the automation system.

This solutions constitute an integral part of the systems of automation, thanks to the increasing need of access to the production information and action on the process at real time.

The producers of automation systems offer a wide range of operator panels of various dimensions and functionality:

  • Displaying texts and messages panels
  • Graphic terminals
  • Touch-screen panels or with alphanumeric and functional keys
  • Wireless mobile devices

Suitable to cover all necessities, from the simple request of visualization and command to applications next to a supervision system:

  • Graphic presentation with display of status and process values

In the last years, always more frequent, we are passed from simple HMI solutions to the use of real supervision and control systems SCADA (SupervisoryControl And Data Acquisition).

The primary finality of these systems is to allow the active management of the information coming from the plant:

  • Know in real time the state of the production
  • Analyze the historical data with statistic tools
  • Take the right decisions for the management of the process

These are the main objectives of a supervision system

In the manifold realizations, that we have performed in the most different sectors, we have introduced functions like these:

  • Graphic presentation with display of status and process values
  • Setting of job parameters
  • Programs and recipes management
  • Trend displaying
  • Report generation
  • Data historical recording on database
  • Manual command of items and devices
  • Diagnostic functions management

We use the most known supervision systems:

  • WINCC (SIEMENS)
  • FACTORY TALK (ROCKWELL)
  • MOVICON (PROGEA)
  • CITECT
  • INTOUCH (WONDERWARE)
  • iFIX

When the requirement of the supervision system are beyond the normal functions of a SCADA, we are able to developed some software applications in the most common languages (Visual Basic, C, C++, C #. NET). This software can run stand alone or can be add in a SCADA project, integrating its functionalities.

Some examples of custom designed applications realized:

  • Warehouse management
  • Identification systems with bar code
  • Production planning according with the job orders
  • Integration with managerial and directional systems

Documentation_immagine

After sometime, the documentation about the automation is become more and more important, until to be, by now, a necessary component of the supply, essential for a correct ordinary management and for a suitable maintenance of the plant.

The Technical functional specification is a document that describes the automation system in its configuration and operation. It includes a description of the phases and the cycles of the plant, the list of the devices with theirs input and output and a description of the manual and automatic operation of every device. It's written in collaboration with the Customer, on agreement with the functional concept of the system and with the requirement of the productive process. It's a valid referential document for the develop of the whole project and, after that, it remains as a documentation as built; It could be useful for future analyses, maintenances and modifications. It can be integrated with schematic representations of the process, like Logical Flow Chart or Time Diagrams.

The purpose of the Operator Manual is to give the operator the necessary instructions to the correct use of the machine, operating with its manual and automatic functions. It normally contains a illustration of the display pages of the supervisor PC or the operator panel, with detailed description of the HMI functions: manual and automatic commands, method of selection of the operational cycles, settable work parameters, process value displayed, diagnostic alarms, etc.

The supply could normally be completed with the technical documentation of the equipments used in the project, with Data Sheet and User Manuals.

The whole documentation is obviously supplied in Italian language, in English and, if required, in the language of the Country where the plant will be installed.

Service & support_immagine

Technical Support

The technical advice and support, following to the commissioning of the automation, are two services extremely important and very appreciate by our Customers.

Some personalized contracts, built as specific requirement, offer to our Customers precious services:

  • Telephone support
  • Technician's availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Remote assistance over the plant, with direct access from our laboratory, through protected connections
  • Support on site within short times, for assistance and maintenance

Preliminary testing and Pre-acceptance

At the end of the software development, we are able to perform a preliminary test on the executed work, with the purpose to verify that the function of the system adhere to the referential requirement.

The use of hardware and software simulation tools allows us to make a very careful test, reproducing the performance of the plant in the final conditions of work.

A following test of the electric board and the hardware components that will be installed, allows to include on the testing also the equipments and the wirings.

The preliminary testing in our Home allows surely a time saving during the following commissioning on site, reducing the costs and improving the efficiency of such activity.

Commissioning and Acceptance testing

The commissioning is the last activity in time order, but not surely the last one about importance.

It's the phase of the supply that needs more attention. It's realized when the system is completely assembled, installed and wired and it concerns the tests of functioning of the plant in the real conditions of exercise, with the verifying of the whole hardware and subsequently the software of command and control in all of its parts.

During these phases, it's possible to verify that all the details of the project are congruent each other and they allow to achieve the results and the performances required by the referential specification.

Only after this activity, the supply could finally be approved and accepted by the buyer, with the following validation of the project, according to the operational procedures required by the ISO 9001 certification.
